Biography

Abdullah Mason, born April 5, 2004 in Bedford, Ohio, just outside Cleveland, is the reigning WBO lightweight champion and one of boxing's brightest young stars. A decorated junior amateur who won national titles before compiling a 65-15 amateur record, the southpaw turned professional with Top Rank as a teenager and tore through the lightweight ranks, collecting the NABF and NABO regional belts while stopping 18 of his 21 opponents. On November 22, 2025 in Riyadh, he outpointed Britain's Sam Noakes over 12 rounds for the vacant WBO title, becoming the youngest active male world champion in the sport at 21. He brought the belt home on July 4, 2026, and delivered a defense for the ages at Cleveland's Wolstein Center: trailing against fellow Ohioan Albert Bell, he dropped Bell twice with left hooks in the final round to win by 12th-round TKO. Now 21-0 with 18 knockouts, Mason pairs elite hand speed with punishing body work and championship-level resilience, and is widely viewed as the new face of the lightweight division, with unification fights on the horizon.
