Muto Gym's 17 September notice gives "start 17:00 (planned)", but the venue and Teiken Promotions both list the first bout at 16:30, and this page follows them. As of 23 September Nishida's place in the running order did not appear in any of the Amazon, venue, Teiken or Muto Gym notices, so the safe plan is to be watching from the 16:30 first bout.
The main event is the Takuma Inoue vs Tenshin Nasukawa WBC bantamweight title rematch, and the card also includes Tomoya Tsuboi vs Ricardo Malajica for the vacant WBC super flyweight title, among other bouts (Amazon).
Why an interim title?
According to Amazon's announcement, undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue has no fight scheduled for the time being, so the IBF created an interim title and ordered its No. 1 (Nishida) and No. 2 (Goodman) to fight for it. The Ring reported the order in June 2026; at the July purse bid, Nishida's promoter Muto Promotions won the rights with $610,000. The Ring also reported that the winner will be in line to challenge Inoue in future.
The opponent: Sam Goodman
Goodman, 27 (born 10 October 1998), is an orthodox boxer-fighter from Australia with a 22-1 (8 KOs) record (East Japan Boxing Association). He was scheduled to challenge Naoya Inoue in both 2024 and 2025 but withdrew both times through his own injuries. In summer 2025 he moved up to challenge Nick Ball for the WBA featherweight title and lost, then returned to super bantamweight (Amazon).
Record: 11-1 (2 KOs)
As of 23 September 2026 Nishida's pro record is 12 fights, 11 wins (2 KOs), 1 loss (Muto Gym; East Japan Boxing Association; Teiken Promotions). His only defeat came against Junto Nakatani in June 2025, and nine of his 11 wins went to the scorecards (including one technical decision).

Career
Nishida came out of Kindai University (Boxing News) and turned pro in 2019 after an amateur career (Amazon's announcement says he turned pro "seven years ago").
- 24 April 2021 — In only his fourth pro fight he took the WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight title from former WBC flyweight champion Daigo Higa, 118-110, 117-111, 117-111 (Boxing News).
- 4 May 2024 — In his ninth fight and first world title shot, he dropped IBF bantamweight champion Emmanuel Rodríguez in round 4 and won a unanimous decision, 115-112, 115-112, 117-110 (JBC bout report).
- 15 December 2024 — First defence: knocked out Anuchai Donsua at 1:37 of round 7 (JBC bout report).
- 8 June 2025 — Lost the WBC/IBF unification to WBC champion Junto Nakatani when he retired after round 6 (the JBC report records a retirement at the end of round 6). Daily Sports reported that before round 7 his corner said his right shoulder had come out. It was his first pro loss and cost him the IBF title.
- 15 February 2026 — At super bantamweight, he met IBF No. 4 Bryan Mercado in a title eliminator. Cut over the left eye by an accidental head clash in round 2, he won a technical decision when the fight was stopped at 2:53 of round 7, 69-64 on all three cards (JBC bout report).
Style
The East Japan Boxing Association's preview describes Nishida as a southpaw boxer-fighter who used to keep range with his feet and right jab but has lately spent more time exchanging at mid and close range. At 170cm tall with a 173cm reach, the preview says he gives nothing away physically at super bantamweight. At the 3 August press conference he called Goodman well balanced and able to fight at any range, and said he had trained to outclass him at every range (Boxing News, English edition).
