Biography

Aaron McKenna was born July 6, 1999, in Smithborough, County Monaghan, Ireland, and turned professional at 18 — skipping a shot at the Tokyo Olympics to do it. An eight-time national amateur champion who captained Ireland's boxing team, he built an unbeaten pro career around a tall, rangy orthodox style. He won the WBC Youth middleweight title in December 2021, then the vacant WBC International middleweight belt over Uisma Lima in June 2023, both by unanimous decision.

His signature win came in April 2025: a unanimous-decision victory over former two-weight world champion Liam Smith at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

That result put “Silencer” in line for a first world-title shot, and on August 8, 2026, he meets Italy's unbeaten Etinosa Oliha for the vacant IBF middleweight title at Dublin's 3Arena — the first middleweight world title fight on Irish soil in more than three decades, and McKenna's first fight on home ground since turning pro.
