This is the record of the middleweight 12-rounder at Afterpay Arena in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday 26 July 2026 (Saturday night, 25 July, in the US). All three judges scored it for Tszyu: 117-111, 118-110 and 117-111. After the fight, promoter Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) listed Tszyu at 28-3 (18 KOs) and Spence at 28-2 (22 KOs). It was Spence's first fight in nearly three years, since his July 2023 loss to Terence Crawford.

The bout was first agreed at a 158-lb (71.7 kg) catchweight. During fight week Spence asked for the full middleweight limit of 160 lbs, and Tszyu accepted (Boxing News). It was the first middleweight fight for Spence, a former welterweight champion with three belts (The Ring).

According to PBC's fight report, both men landed big shots in round one. The first half went back and forth: Spence went to the body, and Tszyu scored with right hooks against the southpaw. From the middle rounds Spence's work rate dropped, and Tszyu added a body attack of his own to take control. In the championship rounds Spence came forward to try to turn the fight, but he kept walking into heavy shots, and in the 12th Tszyu mixed head and body punches that forced Spence to back up again and again.
Before the fight, WOWOW's preview put the odds at 5-4 in Spence's favour. ESPN called the result an upset.
After the fight Tszyu said middleweight was his new division and that he felt strong. He added that he wanted a world title shot, naming Erislandy Lara and ‘all the champions’ (PBC). The win was Tszyu's third in a row, as he rebuilds after losing twice to Sebastian Fundora and once to Bakhram Murtazaliev (ESPN).
Spence announces his retirement
According to ESPN, when Main Event's Ben Damon asked Spence in the ring whether this was the end of the road, he replied: ‘I think yeah, for sure.’ In comments reported by PBC, Spence congratulated Tszyu and called it a good fight. He said he had answered a lot of questions for himself and that it was time to go home to his family and start a new life. He added that he had his faculties intact, that his money was working for itself, and that he was thankful to leave the sport with his family by his side.
Spence is a former WBA (Super), WBC and IBF welterweight champion. He lost those belts to Crawford by ninth-round TKO in July 2023 (WOWOW). Crawford's record since then is on our Terence Crawford profile.

Ahmad Reda (9-0, 6 KOs) beat former Olympian Paul Fleming (28-2-2, 18 KOs) by unanimous decision over 10 rounds. The bout had been moved onto the pay-per-view after the Charlo fight was cancelled (Fightmag). According to PBC, Reda finished his combinations with right hands, kept hitting Fleming's left eye until it affected his vision, and put in a near flawless performance.
Callum Peters (8-0, 7 KOs) cut Ivan Actis (13-1-1, 9 KOs) over the left eye in round four, and referee Will Soulos stopped the fight 55 seconds into round seven (PBC).
Paulo Aokuso (11-0, 6 KOs) knocked out Luis Antonio Tejeda (12-1-1, 9 KOs) with one left hand 21 seconds into the 10th and final round, after being on shaky legs late in round seven (PBC). Tina Rahimi made her professional debut and beat Sacha Ryan Dryden by unanimous decision over four rounds (Fightmag). Aokuso boxed for Australia at the Tokyo Olympics, and Rahimi at the 2024 Paris Olympics (Boxing 247).
The two cancelled bouts
Fulton vs Wilson: Stephen Fulton Jr., well known in Japan for his fight with Naoya Inoue (WOWOW), weighed 139.5 lbs (63.3 kg) at the official weigh-in. The contract weight had already been raised from 130 to 133 lbs (60.3 kg) earlier in fight week at Fulton's request. He came in 6.5 lbs (2.9 kg) over that limit, and the bout was cancelled (ESPN). It had been announced as a WBA super featherweight title eliminator (WOWOW, ESPN) and was moved up to the chief support slot after the Charlo fight fell through. It was the second fight in a row in which Fulton missed weight, after his December 2025 bout with O'Shaquie Foster (ESPN). Inoue's record is on our Naoya Inoue profile.
Charlo vs Mazoudier: Jermall Charlo was denied a visa to enter Australia, and his fight was cancelled, according to PBC representatives (ESPN, 17 July). No reason for the refusal was given. WOWOW also told viewers that this bout, which it had planned to show, was off.
