Biography
Tyson Fury, the 6'9" 'Gypsy King' from Manchester, turned pro in 2008 and moved unbeaten through the heavyweight ranks before a stunning 2015 upset of long-reigning champion Wladimir Klitschko made him unified and lineal champion.
What followed was a two-year spiral of depression and weight gain that cost him every title. His comeback became one of boxing's great redemption stories: a draw and two knockout wins over Deontay Wilder, capped by a February 2020 victory that won him the WBC belt.
He defended it against Wilder a third time and against Dillian Whyte, then edged UFC legend Francis Ngannou by split decision in a lucrative crossover bout.
Oleksandr Usyk beat him twice for the undisputed crown — a split decision in May 2024, then a clearer rematch loss that December — ending Fury's reign atop the division and pushing him toward retirement.
He returned in April 2026 with a wide decision over Arslanbek Makhmudov, and now tunes up against veteran Mariusz Wach in Thailand as he builds toward a mega-fight with fellow Briton Anthony Joshua.
