Biography
William Zepeda Segura was born June 4, 1996, in San Mateo Atenco, Mexico, and turned pro in November 2015. Known as “Camaron” (Shrimp), the high-volume southpaw built an unbeaten 30-0 record and a reputation as one of the sport's most relentless punchers, signing a multi-year extension with Golden Boy Promotions in 2024.
He stopped Maxi Hughes in four rounds in March 2024, claimed the WBC interim lightweight title that November, and defended it with a majority-decision win over Tevin Farmer in a March 2025 rematch.
His unbeaten run ended in July 2025, when full WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson out-boxed him over twelve rounds at Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York — the first loss of his 34-fight career. With Stevenson having since moved up in weight, Zepeda gets a second chance to become a world champion when he meets Lamont Roach Jr. for the vacant WBC lightweight title on August 2, 2026 (Japan time) in Las Vegas.
